FAQs on Perinatal Health

What is Perinatal Health?

Perinatal Health is the continuum of care for mother and baby that begins with preconception planning and extends through pregnancy, birth and early infancy.

Perinatal health services include a broad range of medical, social and environmental support that addresses the complex issues of maternal/child health and well-being.

Perinatal health services must address each of these facets to ensure optimal birth outcomes. Healthy infants must then be sustained by a nurturing home and community environment.
